Three Rivers TESOL
There is currently an explosion of educational tools and services, each designed to solve some deficiency or problem created by how things were accomplished in the past (Gilmore, 2015). Namely, this poster presents Rewordify.com usage in the Ukrainian high school classroom. Furthermore, with the help of the website’s screenshots, the poster shows detailed instructions on how the website works. Second, it provides a sample lesson plan on how it is incorporated in the Ukrainian ESL classroom explaining the benefits of using a technology-based medium in the ESL classroom, such as enhancing students’ understanding or showing meaning in complex texts. The goal of this tool is to empower ESL students to learn independently and comprehend more challenging reading exercises. Users can choose any appealing text to them as a “springboard for learning” (Goldman, Sweeting, 2013). This poster presents excerpts from Shakespeare’s novel that was part of the homework for ESL students; therefore they appreciated the website for the way that it allowed them autonomy in their reading and vocabulary development. Finally, Rewordify.com proved to be the most successful reading technology that has been used to promote instructor-student and peer-to-peer response in Ukraine.
